Purpose/Description of the Job:

The Information Technology (IT) Specialist is responsible for the implementation, coordination and development of Rabren General Contractor’s IT program in accordance with RGC’s Best Practices. This position will work in a highly collaborative manner with all RGC employees to solve IT problems. The IT Specialist will procure all hardware and peripherals and coordinate the procurement of software for RGC. The position will provide first-line “help desk” technology support to all RGC employees. The IT Specialist will coordinate with an external service provider to monitor and maintain RGC’s network and IT systems and provide advanced user support.

Major Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks:

    Provides timely phone, text, in-person and online technology “help desk” support to all RGC personnel

o    Consistently, clearly and timely communicates solution updates, status and completion information to users about their technology support issues and projects

    Ensures Rabren General Contractors employees have and can use appropriate technology tools

o    Identifies and procures hardware, software and computer accessories and supplies

o    Installs, troubleshoots, repairs and maintains hardware and components such as monitors, keyboards, printers, etc.

o    Loads software (operating systems, networking components, office apps, specialty SW); connects users to networks; ensures timely upgrades and updates to company software

o    Provides initial and advanced in-person training and support on hardware and software

o    Develops RGC-specific instructional materials; identifies and distributes training tools and support materials

    Coordinates resolution of major hardware and software problems with vendors

    Organizes and ensures secure on and off-site data archiving, storage and access

    Administers Office 365 and loads appropriate software packages such as operating systems, networking components and office applications

    Documents key information related to essential technology systems and functions

    Performs and maintains company hardware and software inventories

    Assists in development of RGC Best Practices as they relate to Information Technology; implements and manages IT Best Practices 

    Identifies and recommends new technologies to increase productivity and value

    Apple product procurement


Other:

    Perform any job specific related work, as apparent or assigned

    This position will require driving to RGC job sites and the Birmingham Office


Minimum Requirements: 

    Bachelor’s or Associates Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field 

    Communication and collaboration proficiency, flexibility, strong technology capacity, initiative, attention to detail, organizational skills, time management skills

    Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple problems simultaneously

    Continually drives for results, strives for improvement, creates trust with character and action, teams up successfully, solves complex problems and builds other people.

    Valid Driver’s License


Preferences: 

    2+ years’ experience


Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in an office setting and in a construction job site setting.


Physical Demands:

    Works some days outside on the construction site

    Able to lift/move up to 50 lbs.

    Able to deal with the physical activities associated with a construction site (stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach and twist)

    Able to negotiate work areas under construction


Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position. Standard days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. through 5 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.


Travel:

Travel to other RGC office and RGC job sites is required.
