Position Overview:
The Client Accounting Specialist will play a vital role in supporting the firm’s tax, audit, and advisory teams by delivering accurate, timely, and organized bookkeeping (client accounting & advisory) services to our clients. This role involves handling sales and payroll tax filings, financial preparation & reporting, client accounting software setup & training. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, self-motivated, and able to manage multiple client accounts efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and reconcile client-maintained books for accuracy and completeness.
- Prepare accurate financial statements for clients in various industries.
- Perform transaction coding/review and routine bookkeeping duties for multiple client accounts.
- Prepare sales and use tax returns and ensure timely filing.
- Prepare and file W-2s, 1099s, and related year-end forms.
- Set up and provide client training for accounting software (primarily QuickBooks).
- Assist clients with self-prepared payroll and tax filings, offering guidance as needed.
- Handle special client tasks such as unclaimed property filings, business license renewals, etc.
Required Qualifications:
- 2+ years of bookkeeping or related accounting experience (public accounting preferred).
- Proficient in QuickBooks Online.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Ability to work in new AI software.
- Understanding of payroll processing and tax compliance.
- High attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and reconciliation.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in a public accounting firm or with multiple clients simultaneously.
- Experience with payroll platforms and filing systems (e.g., ADP, Gusto, Paychex).
- Familiarity with tax filing software and portals.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
- Timely completion of assigned tasks and filings.
- Accuracy and completeness of financial statements and tax forms.
- Client and supervisor satisfaction with service delivery.
- Successful onboarding and training of clients on accounting software.
- Demonstrate ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Work Environment:
This position may be performed on-site or in a hybrid/remote capacity, depending on client needs and firm policy. Collaboration with other team members and client contact will be regular and essential to success.
