Operations Manager – United Way of Lee County

Job Description:
The Operations Manager assists the Executive Director in implementing the strategic direction of United Way of Lee County and ensuring the organization operates effectively and efficiently. This role oversees and facilitates services, supports internal programming, manages daily office operations, assists with funded partner administration, gathers information, and contributes to resource development efforts.


Initiatives and Programs:

  • Administer in-house direct assistance programs, including Last Resort, Community Fund, Student Health Fund, etc.
  • Provide cross-trained support for the 2-1-1 line, assisting with phone calls as needed.
  • Manage and execute all service-based grants, ensuring compliance with standards, budgets, and reporting requirements.
  • Serve as the staff representative on a United Way Board of Directors committee.
  • In partnership with the Executive Director and 2-1-1 Coordinator, actively participate in Lee County VOAD and EMA disaster preparedness training.
  • Support community disaster response by managing the Volunteer Reception Center, as directed by the Executive Director and Lee County EMA Director.

Office Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Answer phone calls, route inquiries appropriately, and provide accurate information.
  • Greet visitors, assess their needs, and provide relevant assistance.
  • Assist with event promotion and coordination (e.g., Christmas Assistance Program, coat drive, etc.).
  • Coordinate the annual Day of Caring event.
  • Provide administrative support for the annual allocations and mini-grant programs.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director to develop and implement new business strategies and outreach efforts.
  • Support the annual campaign by researching and analyzing donor giving history.
  • Foster year-round community engagement and develop relationships with companies and individuals to promote the United Way mission.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Work Hours:
Standard work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Some responsibilities may require availability outside of normal business hours.


Qualifications:

  1. Education:

    • Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred. Relevant professional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

  2. Experience:

    • Minimum of two years of related professional experience.

  3. Skills and Personal Attributes:

    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

    • Professional appearance and demeanor with attention to detail and organization.

    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

    • Public speaking skills and comfort addressing both large and small groups.

    • Strong ethical standards and alignment with the organization’s mission.

    • Ability to adapt to changes and handle multiple responsibilities efficiently

    • Bondable for insurance purposes.


Physical Requirements / ADA:

  • No unusual physical requirements; most work is performed in a comfortable indoor environment.
  • Must be able to assist with event setup and breakdown and attend some or all promotional events.
  • Routine deadlines are expected and typically have sufficient lead time; work volume varies seasonally and is predictable.
  • Frequently requires sitting, reaching, speaking, hearing, and handling objects. Occasionally requires standing, walking, and lifting up to 20 pounds.
  • Must be able to read information in print and on screens.
